We kicked off a new sermon series on authority called Protect and Serve!  It was awesome and gave people A LOT to think about.  You can catch it online at www.coffeechurch.com.  I can’t wait to hear more!

We have CUTE kids at the Coffee Church!  Make sure you say hi to a few of them every Sunday.  They are the most valuable resource we have in our midst!

Missionaries Mike and Kari Ness came to visit the Battle Ground campus on Sunday and even stopped in to tell missionary stories to our kid’s classes.  They attended that campus prior to leaving for the mission field, so it was great to have them “home” again to see us!

I lost the diamond out of my wedding ring on Sunday…bummer.  I’m praying it happens to turn up somewhere, but unfortunately I have no idea when or where it came out.  I think there’s a few parables about valuable lost things…

We are beginning to interview potential youth pastors for Battle Ground.  How exciting!  If you know of a youth pastor looking for a job, have them email their resume to mark@coffeechurch.com.

Thank you for your faithful giving to North Creek!  We know that your money is important and we are grateful and humbled when you choose to invest your giving into our church.  We get the privilege of knowing every story of changed lives and how valuable your giving really is.  Thank you for your faithfulness!

Next Sunday we will be honoring our high school graduates at Hazel Dell and then on the 16th we’ll honor our grads at Battle Ground.  It’s one of my favorite mornings as we celebrate our teenagers!

We are also in full swing for getting our youth and kid’s to summer camp.  If you need a registration form, you can email office@coffeechurch.com.  If you don’t have kids going to summer camp, but want to be a part, you can give to camp scholarships.  We have a genius strategy where we have our scholarship kids actually work for the church so that they understand that our spiritual growth takes effort and attention.  It’s a win-win and it’s awesome!

Father’s Day is coming in two weeks!  Yay for Dads!  We love the men of North Creek and are appreciative of their leadership in our church.

On that note, enjoy this amazing sunshine!  I LOVE SUMMER!  Bring it on!

Hope you enjoyed Spring Break!  It is officially over and we are off and running for the rest of the school year.  It was fun having my girls home for a week, but I enjoyed the solitude of my coffee this morning as well!

Welcome Home to our Deaf Church Missions team who had a great trip to Mexico. I’m pretty sure they had a remarkable time ministering to deaf kids, although I stopped listening to Pastor Jim after he said, “It was 80 degrees and sunny the whole time…”  Sigh.  Glad to have you and your tan home anyway!

We had several new volunteers learning the ropes with us yesterday!  It was SO amazing to have you and we are grateful that you are jumping in to help us lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus.

We dedicated Landon yesterday at Hazel Dell’s 11:00 am service.  He showed off nicely for the audience, but then got distracted by the shiny guitars.  His daddy is one of our bass players, so I guess it runs in his blood.  Congrats Marcus and Tasha!  We know you will be amazing parents to Linus and Landon!

Mark and Chris preached the same sermon yesterday on sin equating to death.  Super important perspective, so if you missed it, catch it online.  We had several people yesterday have some really deep moments with God as they shifted their thoughts about needing to be perfect before God will love you.

Hey…read your Bible.  It’s way better than any blog.

Simply Worship is tomorrow at Battle Ground and Wednesday in Vancouver.  If you’ve never been, I’m inviting you!  It’s a great opportunity to connect with Jesus and focus on His grace and mercy for an hour!  An hour with Jesus will change your life…guaranteed or your money back.  It’s a free event, so you can have your money back either way.  All the info is on the website at www.coffeechurch.com.

On another note, we are broken-hearted for Pastor Rick and Kay Warren at the passing of their son last Friday.  I grew up in a home with mental illness and there are few words to describe how it affects everyone in the family.  I think the Warren’s have been an amazing example of living in faith and perseverance for many decades.  This is not only a horrific loss, but also one that the Warren’s must face in front of the world.  I am grateful for a God who is big enough to give them all that they need to not only get through this, but use it for His glory.  Our hope is found in Christ alone.

And so begins another week filled with adventure and the providence of God.  Let’s all live as if we serve the King of all Kings.

It’s Spring!  I love the sunshine pouring in and the blooming flowers.  It’s a new season, both in the weather and at North Creek.  So many exciting things in store!

Yesterday was “Leave a Mark” Sunday where we asked for volunteers in all three hearing services and the deaf service.  Let me tell you…we are humbled and amazed at your hearts.  We have always been blessed with lots of volunteers, but we are growing, so we feel like we are constantly asking for more!  Coffee Church problems!  We were thrilled yesterday to add 20+ volunteers in the hearing services and the deaf church blew us out of the water!

If you didn’t sign up to volunteer and you want to, go to www.coffeechurch.com and find the volunteer application under the resources tab.  We can use at least one person more in every area, but some main ones we are trying to overload due to excessive growth are: Battle Ground Nursery, Kid City, Tiny Town, and Checkin.  Also Battle Ground media and sound each need one more ASAP.  Hazel Dell needs Kid City and 9:30 am Tiny Town.

We had more guys ask about maintenance than I can count.  That’s a good thing because we have a long and ugly maintenance list!  We look forward to our guys bonding together over hammers and duct tape.  Well, duct tape is how I fix my problems.  Maybe they will come up with a better plan…and no, I did not sign up for the maintenance team.

Why do we want to overload our volunteer schedule?  We want another campus and our systems must be strong before we get there!  Too many people in our community need Jesus to stop now!

We can’t wait for Easter!  Six days!!!!

The Learning Center is open for registration!  If you need a great preschool for your little one, check it out at coffeechurch.com.  It’s going to be a pretty amazing year and I’ve loved hearing all the details unfold.  Amazing changes ahead!

We all have a limited perspective of who walks among us at church every Sunday.  The stories in the room are inspiring.  Take some time and ask people how Jesus changed your life.  Your walk with God will never be dry again because you will see His hand everywhere.  It’s the beauty of the Church!

Our team makes me laugh.  They stuffed Easter gifts yesterday at our staff meeting.  Sometimes we lead a large, multisite organization with a preschool and a deaf church.  Sometimes we put eggs in bags.  And in the end, it’s all important to somebody!

Matt, Alissa, Jordan, and Emily sure do a great job leading worship, don’t they?  We consider ourselves blessed with a team of worshippers who also happen to be talented.  Here’s to watching God use them in amazing ways!

We served free lattes at Battle Ground yesterday to get our systems going for the new espresso bar there.  We’ll be doing that some more in the month to come because now we have more baristas to train!  It’s also our evil scheme to get you there earlier…and it works.

Small groups are closing up this week!  It’s been a great semester.  We’ll be starting them again in about a month, so stay tuned.

Enjoy your week!  See you on Easter!

Wow, what a Sunday!!!  We closed a chapter in our story with the departure of Wayne and Jenny after 20 years of serving Battle Ground.  We know they will bless so many people in their new venture at Lifepoint Church in Vancouver, WA.

We dedicated Baby Nayelli last week at Battle Ground and Baby Hanaye at Hazel Dell this week.  Love our North Creek babies and the life that they represent.

Speaking of babies, we had a toddler in Tiny Town wearing a “Big Brother” shirt to announce his parent’s pregnancy.  Congrats to Eli and Amber!  We are very excited for your family!

We are breaking our attendance records…it’s such a blessing to be a part of a growing church!

Preschool registrations are coming in for the Learning Center!  We have so many amazing changes lined up for the fall and we can’t wait for all of those precious little lives to experience great education in a Jesus centered environment.

If we don’t keep the main thing the main thing, we will be lost.  The mission of God should be the most unifying of all causes on the planet.

Our deaf church is awesome.  Pastor Jim makes me laugh.  And some of his jokes are funny, too.

THANK YOU to Peggy and Ken for helping serve at Wayne and Jenny’s goodbye party on Sunday night.  You are an amazing blessing and I’m so glad that you are a part of this church!

As I type this I am drinking a latte made by our pastors, Mark and Chris.  They preach well, but if that doesn’t work out for them, I’m pretty sure they can open a coffee shop together!

The 3rd-5th grade girls had a little party on Sunday afternoon.  Sugar and nerf guns make for an amazing time!  My daughter loves the friends she has made at church.  The key to helping your kids make friends: come often and give them the opportunities to get to know people!

Meet someone new every Sunday.

We want you to volunteer on Sundays.  It is one of the easiest ways to feel involved and a part of what God is doing in the lives of our people.  You can fill out a volunteer application at www.coffeechurch.com under the Resources tab.  Do it now.  No really.  You won’t be sorry!

Welcome back!  After a week off, it was nice to see people back in the actual buildings of this thing called “Church”.  A lot of people came early to chat and drink coffee, so my guess is that they actually missed each other…that might be a good sign!

Another pregnancy to announce…if you want to know who it is, check Matt and Andrea Garner’s facebook pages.  Yep, that’s right, our Hazel Dell Worship Leader and his bride, our HD Kid’s Coordinator, are growing their ministries by one.  SURPRISE!  I’m telling you, that coffee has something in it…

I walked into KidCity yesterday and watched the kids sing for a little bit.  Nothing is cuter than 15 kids doing their best “Air Guitar for Jesus” at the end of their worship songs.  We celebrate when kids are having fun learning about Jesus!  We think that’s true for adults, too.

Matt Bumala and Josiah Thalhofer took the sermons over the weekend!  They are both part of our teaching team and we are BLESSED to have them!  We love bringing up younger preachers and giving them a platform to share their hearts.  We are never disappointed by the quality they bring to the table!

We got two very difficult phone calls last week with some life tragedies within our church.  That’s where the reality of ministry sets in fast.  It is always an honor to rejoice with those who rejoice, but it is equally an honor to mourn with those who mourn.  To be allowed in to the deepest fears and sadness in people’s lives is humbling at best.  We are praying for these situations and trusting God to show up in enormous ways.

We are off and running for a great year at North Creek!  We are nailing out our entire year of sermon series and topics that we will be addressing.  It’s going to be a great year!

Go Seahawks!

I love this quote: “You need to change because your memories exceed your dreams.” – Carey Nieuwhof.  So, what are you holding on to because of what it “once was…”. Let it go!!!!

Who are you praying for?  Make this year one where you are focusing on the spiritual needs of someone around you.

Let’s change the world!
