SO excited about this week at North Creek!  While the world is in chaos, one thing remains stable and trustworthy…the TRUE LOVE of Jesus.  That is our message and that is our mission in spite of all that seems to be happening around us!

With that in mind, we have two “Don’t Miss This” events this weekend that you can be a part of…

First, we are heading towards Good Friday where we will be baptizing a dozen people!  I can’t think of a better way to honor the death of our Savior than by watching people stand for faith in the forgiveness of their sins.  It will be POWERFUL!  Join us as we worship, take communion, and experience baptisms in our service.  We have two people from our deaf church being baptized, so our service will be ASL interpreted.  Also, kids under 5 will have childcare provided.  Older kids will love the service!  Get to the Link Church building early as we expect a full house.

Then we get to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday at Prairie High School.  We will have a treat for all the kids, incredible music, and the life-changing message of our RISEN savior. Service starts at 10:00 am, but coffee is hot at 9:30 am, so come early!  We are also taking a special offering for CharityWater.org to make a difference around the world for people who desperately need life-giving clean water.  If you are unable to be with us this Sunday, you can give online under BePresent at www.coffeechurch.com.  It is going to be a truly beautiful morning to share with family and friends.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend!  Be praying as we know that God is in the business of changing lives!  See you soon.

Thank you to all of the men and women who serve our country!  We set aside this weekend to honor those that have given their lives for our freedom.  I hope you spent time with friends/family and appreciated those relationships.

North Creek was blessed with another baby today!  Congrats to Alex and Lindsey on the birth of their daughter!

Over at Battle Ground on Sunday, missionary Matt Mann from Botswana, came to visit.  He preached a great sermon and it was such an honor to have him!  Would you consider making a monthly pledge to missions?  You can mark your giving as Be Present and it will go to support their work all over the world.

At Hazel Dell and the Deaf Church they both had messages about marriage.  So fun!  It was a great message, even for our singles.  Mark told the story of him climbing a tree to win my love…it worked!

We had our leadership team over for a BBQ on Sunday.  There is such joy in my heart as I watch that group interact!  Our team is made up of most of the original leadership team that began North Creek and the new team members that we have added along the way.  I watched some of the teenagers jumping on the trampoline and took a moment to smile inside…they were the same boys who had their first North Creek Kid’s Church in my backyard 8 years ago before we officially launched.  They were toddlers back then and now they are leading, serving, and still friends after all this time.

On that note, if you want to truly love a church…stay there.  Longevity and loving people even when they fail you is the key to joy and happiness.  There is no one on our team that hasn’t failed me and there is no one I haven’t failed.  Yet we have two things binding us together…commitment and forgiveness.  I love those people regardless of their performance and they give me the same gift.  Try it.  You’ll be amazed at what God will teach you if you don’t abandon people when things aren’t perfect.

Speaking of perfect, thank you to all of the people who have helped us keep our campuses looking great!  We have people who do yardwork, maintenance, and cleaning…it is an amazing blessing and everything looks AMAZING!  If you’d like to jump into one of those teams, email Kim at kim@coffeechurch.com.

Also, we are looking for more nursery and Tiny Town assistants at both campuses.  This is an awesome opportunity for our teenagers as well!  We just ask you to serve one Sunday a month.  And both of our nurseries have a live feed to the main service, so you can watch while you rock!

Have a great week!  Be blessed!

Congrats to the Seahawks!  We’re going to the Super Bowl!  Some of our staff and board are big Niners fans, so my condolences to you.  It was a great matchup!

We had an incredible Sunday as well!  I am VERY excited to say that we announced our new Battle Ground youth pastors, Mat and Janell Marbrey.  They will be heading up our youth ministry launch in early March.  I will take some time to blog more specifically, but long story short, this is an amazing opportunity for North Creek, teenagers, and our community.  More to come!

Over at Hazel Dell we had a packed house in both services.  Everyone is enjoying our new location and we are getting comfortable with our new systems.  Thank you for helping us at every turn!  We have such a great church that sees a need and meets it.  That is a healthy body of Christ and I love it!  Over the next few weeks we will be running on all cylinders and have all of our volunteers trained.

New to North Creek and want to volunteer?  Both campuses need a few things right now.  Hazel Dell needs Kid’s Checkin and Greeting help to accommodate the facility change.  Battle Ground needs Tiny Town and Media workers.  If none of that sounds like you, sign up for something else as we are growing all the time and want you involved!  You can sign up at www.coffeechurch.com.

We are neck deep in the book of Ephesians.  Would you take some time and pray this Scripture over your family and friends:

Ephesians 1:15-19a NIV

15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people,

16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,

19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe….

By the way, if you are ready to get baptized, we would love to schedule a date to celebrate with you!  We have a hot tub that we set up, so anytime is the perfect time!  You can sign up for that as well at www.coffeechurch.com.

Our Hazel Dell youth ministry had 114 people in the building on Thursday…WOW!  That’s awesome and we love teenagers!  Do me a favor and tell them hello on Sundays.  The world seems to look at teenagers as aliens from another planet, but North Creek sees them as one of our most valuable groups!  And let Kris Gray know how much you appreciate what she does!  Youth ministry is a battlefield like none other.  We love you, Kris and team!!!

We are still crunching the 2013 financial numbers, but we do know that we ended the year in the black with margin.  Thank you for giving to North Creek!  We will be having our Annual Business meeting soon to let you see where and how your money impacted lives in our community and world.

All cylinders are running at full speed right now with lots of exciting things in store.  Would you pray that God gives us favor and wisdom?  We love pastoring, but we covet your prayers as we do so.

God bless you…and the Seahawks! 😉

No services FB

We’ve got a lot of details/schedule items that you need to be aware of, so take note and enjoy your weekend!

No Services this Sunday, December 29

Once a year we cancel our regular services to provide a break for our staff and volunteers!  We encourage you to make a special morning with your family and we’ll see you in the New Year!

End of Year Giving

If you would like your giving to count towards your 2013 taxes, you can give up to December 31.  Here are two ways to give:

1.  Online at www.coffeechurch.com

2.  Snail mail postmarked by Dec. 31 to 10311 NE Hwy 99, Vancouver, WA 98686

THANK YOU for your faithful giving to North Creek Church!  It has allowed us to see many lives changed through the love of Jesus this year.  We have watched marriages heal, bought dozens of first Bibles, told hundreds of kids and students they are valued by God, baptized many, fed many, and loved many because of your giving.  Every gift makes a difference!

Hazel Dell Campus is MOVING!

We bought a building at 811 NE 88th Circle, Vancouver, WA 98665. Please note these January schedule changes:

January 5 – ONE 10:00 am service followed by a potluck (please bring a dish to share) and moving.  Families with toddlers may want to bow out of the moving part due to the fact that there will be few safe places for little ones to be. If you attend our Battle Ground services, we would love for you to join us following your service.

January 12 – Regular Hazel Dell services at our new location at 9:30 or 11:00 am.

YOUTH MINISTRY SCHEDULE:

January 2 – Final service in the former building as usual

January 9 – First service in the new building

So many exciting changes as we round the corner into the New Year!  We look forward to all that God has in store for North Creek Church and for your lives.  Here we GROW!

What a jammed-packed full weekend it was!  So much to highlight this week!

Mark and Jim preached on prayer at Battle Ground on Sunday.  It was a great reminder of the power that talking to Jesus about our hopes, dreams, and needs provides for us.

Chris spoke on the Holy Spirit at Hazel Dell, which was a wonderful description of what can be a confusing topic.  Sometimes we complicate the Bible even more than we need to!  When you break down what the Scriptures actually say, you can find a great deal of clarity for yourself.  Yet another great reason to read the Bible!

Did you know that if we preached one chapter of the Bible every week it would take 23 years for you to learn about all of the chapters…IF you never missed a Sunday?  Yeah.  So, if you aren’t reading the Bible on your own, we are in trouble!

We also had a chance to go and look at the potential new building for the Hazel Dell campus.  So far we have gotten some great feedback.  All of the responses we got were “Yes” or “Maybe”.  The “Maybes” were based on some concerns that are very valid, such as appropriate wheelchair access and the size of the auditorium.  The good news is that we have researched enough so far to have a pretty good solution to all of the problems that were noted.   We are scheduling a Question/Answer/Financial Info meeting next Sunday night from 5:00-6:00 pm at the Hazel Dell campus.  We will have stats, pictures, and info, as well as an opportunity for you just to ask any clarifying questions you might have.

We apologize to those who came and the doors were locked already for the Open House.  I’m not sure how to explain that other than to say that there are a lot of players (with a lot of different perspectives) in the game and sometimes that makes the game challenging.  Despite any challenges, we will continue to do our best to provide this congregation with the tools and information that you need to make a great decision for the future of North Creek Church.  Good plan, huh?

There’s lots of excitement about the upcoming concert on November 5 at our church (see previous post).  I’m excited about the music, but I’m MOST excited that ALL the proceeds go to support Charity Water.  They provide clean drinking water all around the world.  Sometimes I try and think about how desperate I would feel if my kids didn’t have clean water…honestly, I start tearing up a bit and pulling out my checkbook.  Bottom line: I have too much and those in poverty have too little.  Remember that when I try and sell you a $50 cup of drip coffee at the concession stand.  Just kidding.  Maybe.  You can buy your ticket online through this Facebook Event LINK.

Also, if you are interested in decorating for Christmas, would you email me at stacy@coffeechurch.com?  We have “normal” decorating needs and then we always have “abnormal” needs, like people who are good with hammers and reclaimed lumber.  Maybe a chainsaw.  Yeah…

There are miracles in the house every Sunday.  I look around the room and just can’t believe all that God is doing.  What is He doing in your life?  I’d love to hear all about it!

Hey, if you want to get baptized, you can find the form at www.coffeechurch.com.  That’s how you can let the world know that Jesus is still doing miracles!  We are ready for you ANY Sunday!

Be blessed!
